WhiteWater West, a Canadian manufacturer and installer of waterpark attractions in Richmond, B.C., helped bring a Las Vegas, Nev., residential park back to life by donating water play equipment for the construction of a new splash pad.

Every year, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) selects a park located in the host city of the NRPA annual conference to perform a complete makeover as part of the ‘Parks Build Community’ program. As the 2015 NRPA Annual Conference was hosted in Las Vegas, Joe Kneip Park of North Las Vegas was selected for this year’s project.

“Joe Kneip Park is an important community space for the many nearby families who have few options to get outside, recreate, and spend time with friends and neighbours. However, the park was in need of major renovation and restoration,” says the NRPA’s director of conservation, Jimmy O’Connor. “The NRPA was thrilled to partner with WhiteWater to bring a brand new splash pad to Joe Kneip—a first for this park and a real gift to this community.”

In total, 11 sponsors contributed to the project, donating various products and services. The park was revealed on the last day of the conference. The community of North Las Vegas along with the park sponsors and industry colleagues joined on Sept. 17 for the official opening of the revitalized park.
