Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada (PHTCC) members concluded the 2016 fiscal year at its annual general meeting (AGM), which was held prior to the Canadian Pool & Spa Conference & Expo in Niagara Falls, Ont.
Council members who attended the Dec. 6, 2016 meeting approved last year’s financial report as well as the proposed budget for 2017, which was introduced by Robert Wood, the PHTCC’s executive director and the Council’s 2016 treasurer, Rodney Taylor.
Wood’s year-end report highlighted the association’s 2016 achievements with respect to finances, membership growth, new program development, industry/member promotion, and advocacy/lobbying efforts. He also touched on major initiatives underway, specifically the continued development of the Industry Trade Certification Program. In fact, new courses are being established to broaden the program’s scope, while three short courses are now available online in English and French.
Plans for 2017 include the launch of a grassroots campaign to address major issues in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with respect to isolation pool fencing and water discharge management practices, amongst others.
Those in attendance also welcomed the incoming 2017 board of directors, which includes Roland Goodfellow, Jason Lawrence, Dave Simek, Gary Barber, Dave Warren, Markus Brunner, Darren Hill, Rodney Taylor, Mark Fournier, Kara Redden, Rob Kamstra, and Nicole Vander Geest. Plaques were presented to Josh Randall and Darren Hill in recognition of their service to the PHTCC as a member of the board of directors. Brunner was also recognized with a plaque for leadership as the Council’s 2016 national president.
