B.C. waterpark designer signs agreement with safety surface maker

WhiteWater, a designer and manufacturer of waterpark products in Richmond, B.C., has entered a distribution agreement with Life Floor for the global waterpark market.

Life Floor’s patented foam-rubber surfacing system helps reduce slips and falls, one of the major causes of waterpark injuries. The flooring tiles are non-absorbent and can be used under or above water. Its closed-cell construction does not support the growth of microbes and is more resistant to chlorine and ultra violet (UV) exposure than other rubber composite products on the market.

“This partnership further confirms WhiteWater’s designs and offerings as the safest in the industry,” said the company’s president and CEO, Geoff Chutter.

According to Jonathan Keller, Life Floor’s CEO, the distribution agreement was an obvious choice for their company as a way to access a wider market. At the same time, however, the missions that drive both companies are also aligned.

“Both companies are single minded about delivering fun safely with high quality products,” said Keller. “I think I can speak for all of us when I say we are excited by the opportunities this agreement represents.”

Chris Biancofiore, the product manager for WhiteWater’s range of interactive water play products and attractions, said kids feel safer and more confident to push their boundaries without fear of getting hurt on this safety surfacing.

“Simply put, they play differently,” said Biancofiore. “The forgiving surface is not abrasive, so it is soft on bare feet and will not skin knees.”
