Marquis Spas, a hot tub company in Oregon, will be the official sponsor of the NASCAR driver Ryan Truex at the ongoing eNASCAR series.
NASCAR is one of the only major sports able to host weekly events while practicing social distancing. With iRacing, a realistic online racing platform, drivers can compete from the safety of their homes. Each race draws hundreds of thousands of viewers, thereby generating millions of interactions on social media.
During April and May (at least), Ryan Truex will participate in two eNASCAR series: the ‘Pro Invitational Series’ and the ‘Grand National Tour’ and will be driving a virtual Marquis No. 40 Chevrolet.
Truex says the Grand National Tour is particularly close to his heart.
“What makes it special is how it’s all about the short tracks,” says Truex.
Short tracks are the small regional speedways where young drivers and teams develop their talent and aspire to careers in NASCAR.
“For the Grand National Tour, we’ll be at four virtual short tracks in iRacing, while raising money for the real tracks,” adds Truex.
As short tracks rely on monthly attendance, he and his fellow drivers are collaborating to help them out.
The primary Marquis race in the Grand National Tour series will take place today, April 22, at 9 p.m. (E.D.T.) at South Boston Speedway. The event can be streamed live on NBC TrackPass at www.nbcsports.com/gold/trackpass. Re-runs of the race will be available online.
