As COVID-19 restrictions loosen, the City of Toronto has opened a plethora of outdoor pools over the past two weeks.
As reported by The Toronto Star, the city originally opened 10 pools the weekend of June 12 and 13, and added another 46 the weekend of June 19 and 20.
Due to social distancing and reduced capacities to only 25 per cent, the city is requiring those interested in swimming to pre-register. New booking time blocks are added each Thursday morning. A limited number of walk-in swimmers are allowed during each swim when registrants do not show up.
Swimmers are asked to provide a name and phone number in the case Toronto Public Health needs to do contact tracing.
Pools are currently operating under a modified schedule but will move to full regular schedules once students are out of school on June 30.
