
WhiteWater West Industries Ltd., a water ride engineering and manufacturing firm in Richmond, B.C., was the recent recipient of three Leading Edge Awards at the World Waterpark Association (WWA) show held in Las Vegas, Nev.
This was the inaugural year for the award, which recognizes those who have completed projects and demonstrated industry leadership and innovation. WhiteWater was recognized for its AquaCourse™ installation, an aquatic ropes course at Splash Adventure Waterpark in Bessemer, Ala., and for its contribution in planning and development of several attractions at Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi, UAE, including ‘Pearlmasters,’ an interactive treasure hunt game at the park’s entrance, ‘Slither’s Slides,’ which comprises a maze of tunnels and slides that empty into a large splash pool, and ‘Bubbles’ Barrel,’ a massive sheet wave ride. This attraction provides a 3-m (9.8-ft) high surfing wave using 1,250-horsepower (hp) pumps pushing 420,000 litres per minute (lpm) (110,952 gallons per minute [GPM]).
The company also provided the original concept for Yas Waterworld and was selected to supply 12 of the parks 14 attractions.

WhiteWater was also recently selected by Village Roadshow Ltd., an Australian-based theme park operator, to provide a number of water-themed attractions for a new Wet ‘n Wild waterpark currently under construction in Las Vegas.
The $50-million waterpark, which will officially open next year, will be managed by Village Roadshow and has a number of well-known investors, including tennis stars, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.
The waterpark will feature approximately 25 attractions, including WhiteWater’s Constrictor,™ AquaPlay RainFortress,™ Family Waves,™ and ‘Thrill Slide’ complex.
