Two days after being closed due to a ‘major fouling incident,’ a public swimming pool in Winnipeg has reopened.
The Seven Oaks Pool was closed on Oct. 7 to allow maintenance staff to drain and thoroughly clean the pool and its entire filtration/circulation system. According to a report in the Winnipeg Sun, fouling of public pools does happen occasionally without public notification; however, in this case a city spokesperson said this incident was slightly worse than usual.
After performing water tests and proper cleanup procedures, the results showed all signs of fecal were eradicated from the pool and, therefore, the facility was determined safe to reopen.
