Fishing derby a hit with PHTCC Vancouver Island chapter members

Fishing derby a hit with PHTCC Vancouver Island chapter members
The Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada’s (PHTCC’s) British Columbia Vancouver Island chapter’s 2013 fishing derby was a success and the group is planning to host another similar event in 2015.

Thanks to the success of this year’s British Columbia Vancouver Island chapter social event—a two-day fishing derby at the April Point Resort & Spa in Quathiaski Cove, B.C.—the chapter is planning to host another derby in 2015.

According to Vancouver Island chapter president Steve Galbraith, industry representatives from across North America attended the event, which saw great weather and successful fishing for all. After arriving by float plane, everyone enjoyed the beauty of the West Coast, fine dining, and the resort’s hospitality and fellowship, which helped make the event memorable for all.

The purpose of the fishing derby was not only to bring the chapter’s members together, but also the entire aquatics industry—from PHTCC members to affiliate organizations such as the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP), National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF), and the Foundation For Pool & Spa Industry Education (FPSIE).

“We’d like to thank all those who supported our efforts and look forward to seeing them again at the next derby,” added Galbraith.

More information regarding the 2015 fishing derby will soon be available on the event website www.fishingpools.net, or by e-mailing Galbraith at thepoolguy@shaw.ca.
