ProSlide Technology Inc., a designer/manufacturer of water rides in Ottawa, is set to install 25 of its SkyBOX launch systems this year, representing a 40 per cent increase since its introduction in 2010.
This year’s first installation called Ihu’s Breakaway Falls was recently completed and opened at Aquatica, SeaWorld’s waterpark in Orlando, Fla. The custom 24-m (80-ft) tower complex includes four high-speed looping slides with three using the SkyBOX drop launch system. The launch system features upright breakaway boxes where guests stand until the floor drops beneath them.
The launch system, which is available in 60, 70, and 80-degree drop angles and uses tablet-style touchscreen operations and real-time remote monitoring, is also used at waterparks such as Kalahari Resorts in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Six Flags Great America in Chicago, Ill., and Gyeongju World, South Korea.
