Latham acquires pool cover competitor
Latham Pool Products has acquired Pool Cover Specialists, a manufacturer of automatic pool covers with facilities in Utah and Indiana.

Latham Pool Products Inc., a manufacturer of swimming pool components and accessories has acquired Pool Cover Specialists National Inc., a manufacturer of automatic swimming pool covers with facilities in Utah and Indiana.

The move adds Pool Cover Specialists’ automatic safety covers to Latham’s list of pool cover brands.

“We are very excited about this category,” said Latham president and CEO Mark Laven. “Automatic swimming pool covers are gaining acceptance throughout North America. This is one of the fastest growing categories in the market due to its clear safety benefits, as well as its energy savings and maintenance features.”

The cover company was owned by Wes Mathis and Dave Dalton, who are retiring. Bruce Grogg will remain with the company as general manager.

“We’re excited to be a part of the Latham family,” said Grogg. “The company has shown willingness to invest in its business to better serve its customers and I’m confident our customers will see clear benefits next season.”

According to Doug Larson, Latham’s Cover Products president, the company will continue to offer both cover product brands to the market.

“Although both products are similar, each has their own unique features, and benefits,” said Larson. “Our intention is to be a great supplier to both sets of customers.”

This is the fifth acquisition Latham has made over the past five years. The company is parent to various brands, including Viking, Trilogy, and Blue Hawaiian fibreglass pools; Pacific Pools, Fort Wayne Pools, Kafko Pool Products, and Performance Pool Products package pool brands; Plastimayd and VynAll pool liners, and Coverstar, Premier, Performance and Coverlogix swimming pool covers.
