Rick Mercer, the host of CBC’s The Rick Mercer Report, is headed to Port Elgin, Ont.’s Centennial Pool to learn about the sport of lifesaving with help from the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club.

“We’re excited to show Rick Mercer what the sport of lifesaving is all about,” said Shanna Reid, aquatics supervisor with the Town of Saugeen Shores, on behalf of the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club. “He’ll be put to the test, alongside all of our athletes.”
Mercer and the film crew will arrive the morning of Jan. 11 and will be taping until they capture the necessary footage. Members of the Lifesaving Club are invited to take part in the filming and get in the pool with Mercer.
“The opportunity to have our community showcased on The Rick Mercer Report is quite exciting,” said Mayor Mike Smith. “The town is incredibly proud of the athletic achievements and successes the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club continue to demonstrate.”
