Maax Spas Industries Corporation, a manufacturer of portable acrylic hot tubs, has acquired Anaheim, Calif.-based L.A. Spas, the company’s second acquisition since being purchased by Brookfield in 2008.
“This move supplements our strengths,” said John Johnson, Maax Spas’ president. “By consolidating all operations into our Chandler, Ariz., facility, we will realize greater economies of scale, allowing us to deliver more value to our retail partners.”
Three years ago, with a redefined strategic position, L.A. Spas invested in new products, expanded its distribution channel, and grew revenue by 55 per cent. Going forward, the L.A. Spas brand and its 37-country specialty retailer network will retain its own distinct identity.
Emil Nygard, Maax Spas’ vice-president, said the acquisition will have a great effect on the company’s entire business.
“We will be in a terrific position to continue the growth of all our brands,” he added. “Operational efficiencies will support product innovation plans, while expanding our distribution network will make both national and international marketing programs more effective, ultimately creating more sales for all our dealers.”
