Located along Ottawa’s Rideau Canal, this indoor pool was an integral design feature of a newly constructed residence. As outdoor pools typically offer a shorter season, the homeowners opted for an indoor pool that would allow them year-round enjoyment. Therefore, the task at hand was to incorporate the openness of an outdoor pool into the conveniences of an indoor design.
The design of this spacious backyard in an estate subdivision in the rural community of Mono, Ont., was intended to provide beautiful views from the nearby custom-built home, which is situated on a generous two-acre property.
The landscape on this large rolling property was very mature, and it had an extremely steep slope at one end of the vinyl pool, which was installed more than 30 years ago.
After installing a freeform lagoon-shaped infinity pool at this homeowner’s previous residence, Roger Willis Pools & Landscapes was once again called upon to install a more traditional pool, spa, and landscape at their new home in Manotick, Ont.
This expansive backyard came equipped with a lush, walking trail backdrop, which Solda Pools Ltd., drew inspiration from to create an organic, free-flowing design that incorporated rockery and other natural materials as to not depart from the esthetic character the site offered.
