The municipality of Pincourt, located in southern Quebec, is getting financial assistance from all three levels of government to reconstruct an outdoor pool in the town.
In renovating this seven-year-old pool and landscape in Toronto, it was important to the family that more space be created in this small backyard for outdoor entertaining while the various new and old features remained consistent to generate a cohesive look.
A complete transformation was required to revitalize this backyard. This included the installation of a pool that provided an area for adults to entertain and socialize, but also a place for children to play and have fun.
Upgrading to a new high-efficiency pool heater not only reduces operating costs for the homeowner, but also lessens the amount of space required for the unit, which provides new opportunities for backyard pool design.
The municipality of Notre-Dame-du-Portage, Que., has been granted $500,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, from the government of Canada, to renovate its outdoor pool.
This North York, Ont., homeowner’s backyard landscape was approximately 20 to 25 years old, and was in dire need of a makeover. As a result, M&S Architectural Ltd., of Gilford, Ont., was tasked with reinvigorating their backyard and create a place where the homeowner could relax and entertain.
While this homeowner in Woodbridge, Ont., certainly loved their pool and backyard, they knew renovation work was needed to rejuvenate their outdoor living space. For instance, the existing fibreglass steps were inappropriately sized and the acrylic was chipping, the pool’s shallow end was too small and did not provide bathers the luxury of just lounging in the water as opposed to swimming in the 2.7-m (9-ft) deep end. Finally, the existing landscape was overgrown and outdated.
