Customers of Polar Spas in Edmonton, Alta., are concerned about receiving the merchandise they paid for after finding a letter on the storefront disclosing the termination of the company’s lease.

A hot tub retailer in Edmonton, Alta., has left some customers in the dark as to whether they will receive the products they purchased, or be refunded, after finding a letter posted on the storefront saying the company’s lease has been terminated.

According to a CBC News report, not only does the letter state Polar Spas owes $5,000 in back rent, some customers have been fighting with the company regarding non-delivery of purchased goods dating back to 2013.

Two years ago, one client paid just over $23,000 for a hot tub, sauna, and tanning bed package and received everything but the $16,000 hot tub. After going back-and-forth with Polar Spas and reaching an impasse, the family hired a lawyer and eventually won a lawsuit against the company.

Court documents show Polar Spas’ owner allegedly owes thousands of dollars to former customers and back taxes to the federal government. The report also says Service Alberta has investigated the company and its owner several times in the past, while the Better Business Bureau (BBB) also lists numerous complaints against the hot tub retailer.

In its efforts to reach Polar Spas for comment, CBC News could not locate the owner.
