Waterfront Toronto is proposing to add a new public swimming pool as part of its Parliament Slip redevelopment project in the East Bayfront neighbourhood.

A new downtown swimming pool is part of an ambitious redesign of Toronto’s East Bayfront neighbourhood.[1]

Waterfront Toronto has released details into its planned renovation of the area, located on Parliament Street, which includes the pool among other amenities.

“Parliament Slip is our chance to create an exciting experience on the water for all types of marine activity,” said Waterfront Toronto CEO George Zegarac in a news release. “Our plan promises to deliver new kayak and canoe launches, lakeside pools and open water swimming opportunities, a floating restaurant, new mooring facilities with charging stations for electric marine craft, and a waterfront amphitheatre for people to enjoy views of the harbour activity.”

The redesign plans for Parliament Slip would also see Waterfront Toronto install a public swimming pool north of the boardwalk in the area.

“Great waterfronts around the world have distinct defining features. Memorable design, welcoming public spaces, the ability to serve recreational and transportation needs, waterfront dining and retail options, and cultural attractions,” said Chris Glaisek, chief planning and design officer for Waterfront Toronto.
