Coast Spas, a manufacturer of hot tubs and swim spas in Langley, B.C., is a finalist in the 2012 BC Export Awards, which will be announced at a gala awards ceremony on Nov. 23 in Vancouver.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the awards program and the second consecutive year that Coast Spas has been named a finalist by the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) BC Division and the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation. The company is one of three finalists in the ‘Consumer Products’ category. More than 400 were nominated for the competition.

In addition to Coast Spas’ national retail network, the company exports its product to various countries around the globe, including the U.S., France, U.K., Ireland, Russia, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Israel, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Republic of Kazakhstan, Poland, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Egypt and Hungary.

Don Elkington, the company’s president and CEO, attributes their continued success and growth on the international level to their strict quality standards (ISO 9001:2008 Certification), numerous innovation patents and their family of skilled and devoted employees.

“Canada is known all over the world for its hot tub craftsmanship, and Coast Spas is pleased to be a big part of ensuring and expanding on this honourable distinction,” added Elkington.

The BC Export Awards is one of the longest running ceremonies of its kind in Canada. In the past 30 years, the export industry has grown by approximately 260 per cent from the midst of a major recession to an export economy worth more than $30 billion dollars.
