In co-ordination with the association’s industry trade certification program, the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada (PHTCC) has increased the number of courses made available to attendees from 12 to 15. By completing these courses, which cover a range of topics, industry members can achieve qualification as an Aquatic Recreation Industry Specialist or Expert.

After announcing its plans to expand the 2016 Canadian Pool & Spa Conference & Expo educational program earlier this year, the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada (PHTCC) has released details on the courses it will offer at this year’s show.

In co-ordination with the association’s industry trade certification program, the PHTCC has increased the number of courses made available to attendees from 12 to 15 covering a range of topics—from the National Swimming Pool Foundation’s (NSPF’s) two-day Certified Pool Operator® (CPO®) program to a variety of short courses discussing topics such as spa pak and pump troubleshooting, hydraulics, water chemistry, backyard safety, pool operation, automation, water discharge, pool installation, pool inspection, business concepts, and pool/spa client handover procedures. Currently, 11 additional seminars will also be presented to support the technical advancement of the industry.

“Thanks to the generous support of our volunteer instructors, a full slate of core courses and many elective courses will be delivered on-site during the national convention,” says the PHTCC’s executive director, Robert Wood. “Successful completion of these courses will actually permit attendees to qualify for accreditation under the Industry Trade Certification Program during the event.”

Short courses and seminars are sold as a package. The cost for PHTCC members is $160 and $330 for non-members (HST included). The price to attend the NSPF’s two-day CPO program, which has a limit of 50 students, is $585 for members and $675 for non-members (HST included). Those planning to participate can pre-register online[2] to receive the early-bird discount rate which is valid until Nov. 7.

This year marks the 36th edition of the show which once again returns to the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, Ont., from Dec. 5 to 8.
