Judging panel announced for PHTCC design competition

This year’s volunteer judging panel for the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada’s (PHTCC’s) Design & Construction Awards competition includes a number of industry representatives from across the country.

The panel, announced by the PHTCC’s awards committee, will be co-chaired by Rodney Taylor of Sunshine Pool & Mechanical Contractors and Robert Wood, the Council’s executive director. Judges will select the winning entries based on creative and inspiring pool, hot tub, and landscape designs. The panel comprises Brad Cross, Waterworks Pools & Spas (Atlantic chapter); Stéphane Drouin, SoucyAquatik (Québec chapter); Jack Burke, Stittsville Pool & Spa (Ontario eastern chapter); Chris Corney, Aqua-Don Pool Services & Supplies (Ontario Niagara chapter); Brey Gibson, BonaVista Pools (Ontario Toronto chapter); Dominika Marcisz, CGT (Ontario central chapter); Obi Onyema, Country Pools & Spas (Ontario western chapter); Jason Lawrence, Oasis Leisure Centre (Prairie chapter); Brandon Clements, PoolCorp/SCP (B.C. central chapter); Colette Morin, Rockingham Pool Consulting Inc., (B.C. Island chapter); and Carla Sovernigo, Alka Pool Construction Ltd. (B.C. Vancouver chapter).

The awards program, which was open to pool and spa/hot tub builders and landscapers, including those in Quebec who are members of L’Association des commerçants de piscines du Québec (ACPQ), closed on Sept. 30.

“We are very pleased with the number of entries received from across the country,” said Wood. “Attempts have been made over the years to grow the competition and ensure the program is truly recognized as a national competition. Achieving this objective helps to promote the industry, and it would appear that we are making great progress in this regard.”

All winners will be recognized at the Industry Awards evening on Dec. 3, during the Canadian Pool & Spa Conference & Expo at the Toronto Congress Centre. All Design & Construction Awards entries will be displayed on the show floor for the duration of the conference.
