Kitchener’s Forest Heights and Lyle Hallman pools reopened to the public, joining Harry Class and Breithaupt pools that have opened in recent weeks.
“We are pleased to make more city pools available for residents to enjoy,” said Ward 1 Councillor Scott Davey. “As we continue to reopen recreational facilities, we have kept the health of visitors and staff top of mind.”
Residents can expect some changes during their visit due to physical distancing and health and safety requirements. Reservations will be required to attend a pool facility to ensure that maximum capacity is not exceeded.
Reservations and payments can be made up to 24 hours in advance through ActiveNet, the City’s program registration system.
All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the pool by an adult who will be responsible the child complies with social distancing measures.
At this time, equipment provided by the city will be limited to personal flotation devices and accessibility equipment. Visitors may bring their own equipment for fitness or accessibility, but pool toys will not be permitted.
Some amenities will be unavailable at city pools including viewing galleries, saunas, slides, and diving boards. Change room access will be limited and visitors are encouraged to arrive at the facility showered and dressed to swim as lockers will not be available; however, visitors will be allowed to keep their belongings in a bag on the pool deck.
“I am encouraged to see as a community we are being respectful of one another and following necessary health and safety precautions in place, allowing us to continue to slowly and gradually reopen city amenities,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic.
