Zodiac Pool Systems’ Gary Scott, a 30-year pool industry professional and contributor to Pool & Spa Marketing, will lead training courses in the ‘Zodiac Academy’ technical service school program.

Zodiac Pool Systems Inc., has launched a new technical training program, called the ‘Zodiac Academy,’ which is designed to provide pool professionals with knowledge on product installation, service, repair, and troubleshooting.

Canadian courses will run between February 17 and March 27, offering two-day training sessions on a variety of products including market-specific items. During the pool season, webinars and video training will be available for industry professionals to use as time permits.

Service schools are being offered for $100 per day to small classes (approximately 30 to 35 people in each location). Those who register will receive a $75 Zodiac rebate cheque for each day they attend the training. Attendees will also receive a tool kit, breakfast/lunch, a binder with relevant material, and hands-on training with most products. Each training session will host a ‘wild-card’ market-specific course such as local information on energy regulations or dealing with specific debris problems. Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) credits can also be earned for courses completed.

Gary Scott, a veteran pool professional and contributor to Pool & Spa Marketing, will lead courses on gas heaters, chlorine generators, variable-speed pumps (VSPs), automation, and lighting. Scott, a licensed Ontario gas fitter and Certified Pool/Spa Operator® (CPO®), is highly regarded as an expert in the industry and has presented numerous seminars and training sessions throughout his 30-year career.

“Recognizing the importance of training in the industry, Zodiac is making a significant investment and putting our most experienced trainers in the field and a comprehensive set of resources online,” said Troy Franzen, Zodiac Pool Systems-Americas’s managing director. “Our goal is to raise the level of knowledge and achievement for those in the field who keep the industry alive.”

“Through Zodiac Academy we hope to increase access to affordable, high-quality training across the country,” said the company’s director of marketing and training, Scott Ferguson. “This program is intended to equip pool professionals with technical know-how to fuel their success.”
