Fluidra, a pool and wellness equipment company, celebrated the International Day of Climate Action (October 24) with a weeklong event from October 23 to 27. The initiative aimed to raise climate change awareness, reduce carbon footprints, and showcase eco-friendly practices.
Last year, Fluidra planted more than 25,000 trees globally, offsetting 3,641 tons (3,303 tonnes) of carbon for every variable-speed pump (VSP) sold during Climate Action Week. This year, the company expands its reforestation initiative by including cartridge filters. For each VSP or cartridge filter sold globally from October 23 to 27, Fluidra will plant a a tree.
Fluidra’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond this event. They advocate for more efficient solutions, such as automatic pool covers. Cover-Pools®, a Fluidra brand, reduces water loss due to evaporation by up to 94 per cent, conserving up to 203,558 lbs (24,440 gal) annually. These covers also decrease chemical usage by 60 per cent, promoting a healthier swimming experience and sustainable pool maintenance.
Fluidra offers a lineup of 22 ENERGY STAR certified pool pumps, optimizing energy efficiency by up to 62 per cent. Light-emitting diode (LED) lighting is another sustainable option, reducing electricity usage by up to 87 per cent.
“This promotion is an example of how we’re trying to call attention to some simple steps our industry can take to minimize its footprint on the environment while keeping our industry thriving,” says Lennie Rhoades, president of Fluidra North America.
