Idaho’s Lewiston Fire Department responded to an incident at a backyard pool, where debris in the pool caught fire last week. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
According to a report by The Lewiston Tribune, around 10:40 p.m., the first responders encountered significant white smoke and flames at the rear of the residence. They gained access to the backyard and found a sizeable in-ground swimming pool ablaze with yard debris. Fortunately, no nearby structures were at risk, so additional resources were not needed.
The report stated further that the fire department requested mutual assistance from Asotin County Fire District #1 to use their two water tenders, allowing Bryden Ave. to remain open and for traffic to flow, while a substantial amount of water was used to extinguish the debris fire.
The crews remained on the scene for two hours to ensure the fire was contained within the pool’s concrete structure, and there were no reported injuries.
