The Canfor Leisure Pool in Prince George, B.C., has been closed until Sept. 3, while the Prince George Aquatic Centre is scheduled for a shutdown from Sept. 4 to Oct. 9. These closures will focus on annual maintenance to both the pools, as well as improvements to the Canfor facility.
According to a report by Prince George Post, in anticipation of the one-year anniversary of Canfor pool’s opening, the city recently announced its upcoming closure. The decision to schedule maintenance before the anniversary was made to address warranty concerns and any outstanding construction-related tasks.
The report further says the maintenance and enhancements for the Canfor pool encompass a range of activities. These activities include interior and exterior painting, maintenance of windows, roof, and doors, the addition of storage hangers for pool lanes, updates to the audio/visual systems, thorough inspections of the NinjaCross course and waterslide, installation of more signage, and a comprehensive cleaning of the pools.
The report states that while the Canfor pool is closed, swimming lessons will be relocated to the Prince George Aquatic Centre. Moreover, the Aquatic Centre will also remain open on August 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in observance of British Columbia Day.
Following the completion of maintenance work at the Canfor pool, the Aquatic Centre will then initiate its own annual maintenance closure, however, during that period, the Canfor pool will be accessible to the public with extended operating hours.
