In a first-of-a-kind experiment, Tesla has installed a solar-powered pool at its Supercharger station in Hilden, Germany, which allows drivers to take a dip while waiting for their cars to charge.

According to a report from Insider, station owner Roland Schüren credited Tesla for this idea, explaining how the company provided the ground for the pool, the water, the energy to operate it, and dry-cleaned towels courtesy a local dry-cleaning partner. The pool, resembling a large black shipping container, allows only four swimmers once. Company’s name makes its way onto the exterior of the pool and on black beach balls inside the pool.

This Hilden charging station was opened in 2020 and is equipped with 40 charging modules. Host of the Tesla Welt Podcast David Reich explained that this station, which was opened as partnership between Tesla, Seed & Greet, café-bistro-bakery located at the site, and Dutch EV charging company Fastned is the largest one in Germany. It has a solar roof, and the chargers provided by Fastned rely on both solar and wind energy to function.
