Chatham-Kent, Ont.’s Wallaceburg Sydenham District Pool reopened to the public on November 23.
The pool’s reopening came after Dr. David Colby, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, rescinded his closure order for the municipality’s aquatic facilities.
According to a news release, aquatic programming will be on a modified schedule with reduced capacity, in accordance with public health and Lifesaving Society recommendations.
Programming will begin with lane swims, adult/senior, parent and tot, and family swims to be followed by other programming once safety processes and procedures have been fully tested and evaluated.
Swimmers must pre-register seven days prior to the desired program they would like to participate in. Each program will run 45 minutes.
To make the transition as smooth as possible, for the interim, swimmers will only be charged $2 per person for every program time.
The pool had been closed for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
