Pentair announces social media contest winner

Cathy Frey, a pool owner in Cleveland, Ohio, was the lucky winner in Pentair Water Pool and Spa’s ‘Pump Up the Savings’ gas card giveaway, which was held through the company’s recently launched social media website, poolfyi.com.

The contest’s purpose was to help pool owners enjoy their ‘staycation’ around the backyard pool this summer as gas prices have taken a toll on consumer pocketbooks and reduced travel spending.

From the time Pentair’s dedicated online community for pool owners launched earlier this spring until June 21, 2011, anyone who signed up, updated their profile, posted a blog, shared a video or otherwise participated in one of the online communities was automatically entered into the draw.

“This promotion was a way for us to help pool enthusiasts ease their pain at the gas pump this summer and let them focus on enjoying their pool, while also showcasing the benefits of poolfyi.com membership,” said Carlos Del Amo, Pentair’s vice-president of marketing.

The company’s social media platform focuses on sharing pool and spa tips, ideas on energy savings, and basic troubleshooting for pools and equipment. Members can engage directly with Pentair technicians, as well as with each other and other pool professionals from around the U.S. A sister site, poolprofyi.com, is dedicated to the pool professional community.
