Residents in Terrace, B.C., could see the community’s aquatic centre undergo an extensive renovation after city council requested $4.7 million to complete the project.

According to a report by the Terrace Standard, money from federal gas taxes would be allocated toward a number of areas, including new drainage systems, accessibility ramps, and the construction of a family change room and a fitness room.

The amount requested by city council would cover the complete project expenses, and a design/construction plan is in place and ready to move forward. If the council’s request is approved, the aquatic centre would need to be closed for eight months while the renovations are being completed.
