A one-day symposium, titled Pools BC, will be held later this month by the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada’s (PHTCC’s) British Columbia Vancouver Island chapter to discuss public swimming pool legislation.

The Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada’s (PHTCC’s) British Columbia Vancouver Island chapter is holding a one-day symposium on Thurs., Feb. 24 to explore the implications of recent amendments to provincial legislation that oversees public pool design, construction and maintenance.

The symposium, titled ‘Pools BC,’ was organized to promote discussion and provide attendees with a better understanding of the new regulations. It will also provide an opportunity for discourse among public administrators, health and safety inspectors and pool industry representatives, including builders, manufacturers, dealers, retailers and service personnel.

The symposium will be held at the Westerly Hotel and Convention Centre in Courtenay, B.C.

In January, the PHTCC’s Atlantic chapter held a similar special information session in Halifax, N.S., to explore existing building codes for swimming pools and hot tubs across the country.

Members of the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada’s (PHTCC’s) Atlantic chapter attended a January information session discussing Canadian pool and spa construction standards.

Chapter president, Kara Redden of R & R Pools in Timberlea, N.S., presided over the meeting, during which Rodney Taylor of Sunshine Pools and Mechanical Contractors in Edmonton, Alta., presented an informative session discussing the numerous rules and regulations that oversee pool and spa construction in Canada.
