The World Waterpark Association (WWA) recently awarded three ProSlide Technology Inc., clients with top honours at its 2015 symposium and trade show.
Spain’s Siam Park waterpark was presented with the ‘Leading Edge Award,’ as this summer it released a water coaster hybrid called ‘Singha.’
“Its constant acceleration, extreme curves and adrenaline-pumping drops will drive guests to our park for years,” says the waterpark’s managing director, Christoph Kiessling.
Also receiving a ‘Leading Edge Award’ was Kalahari Resorts, a waterpark resort in Pocono Mountains, Pa. The first phase of the park opened this summer with 12 rides, including a four-flume custom complex and a hybrid body slide.
By positioning the complex in a corner of the park, the second phase of the waterpark, which will be constructed in 2017, can be easily accommodated. As part of the expansion, more than 10 new rides will be added to the resort, making it the largest Kalahari waterpark.
Finally, this summer, the Caribbean Bay indoor/outdoor waterpark in Yongin, South Korea, turned to ProSlide for its highest capacity, anchor water attraction. The six-person hybrid water ride, which was the 2013 winner of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ (IAAPA’s) best new waterpark ride, allowed the park to remain open an extra month—with just the water coaster and lazy river operating—to help satisfy demand.
Andreas Tanzer, director of research and design for the Ottawa-based designer and manufacturer of water rides, and co-chair of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) safety committee was also recognized by the WWA for his contributions with a second Kelly Ogle Memorial Safety Award. This honour is presented to an individual or organization for significant contributions to guest and employee safety in the water attractions industry.
