A group of investors are proposing $250 million project to bring a Scandinavian-style spa to Ontario’s Muskoka region.

According to local radio station The Bay 88.7,  the investors want to revitalize a 30 ha (74 acre) property which was once home to the Muskoka Regional Centre, a former mental health facility. The centre closed in 1994 and has sat vacant since. The land is currently up for sale by the Province of Ontario.

The group is headed up by Kirill Soloviev, president of MKSBV Developments. He told the radio station if approved, the project is expected to be developed in three stages over two to three years.

According to Soloviev, the project could create up to 750 seasonal and full-time jobs in Gravenhurst, Ont.
