Scarborough swim club finds new home at TPASC[1]
The Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC) will become the new home of the Scarborough Swim Club (SCAR) this September.

After sharing time between five different pool locations, the Scarborough Swim Club (SCAR) and its 250 swimmers will have their own offices and facility at the new Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC) this September.

The swim club, which was established in 1954, currently shares various aquatic facilities in the region. According to an InsideToronto.com report, weekday workouts are typically held at R.H. King Academy, Bendale Business and Technical Institute, and Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute. The club has also used pool facilities at W.A. Porter Collegiate Institute, while Saturday morning practices and all hosted meets are held at Sir Wilfrid Collegiate Institute.

“I was just there (at the TPASC) the other day to finalize some papers and the pool is just amazing,” SCAR’s general manager Chris Prendergast said in the report. “We’re used to so many mediocre facilities that this is going to be an exciting change for us.”

The Toronto District School Board has roughly 10 to 12 weeks per year when they do not rent out the facilities; during this time SCAR is left with no training space. Now, the club will have primary access to TPASC’s two Olympic size pools, multi-level diving boards, and dry land diving facilities.

The TPASC will open to the public on Sept. 2.
