Site selected for Newfoundland Island public pool
Lewisporte council in central Newfoundland Island have finalized the installation site for its new public swimming pool.

Residents of Lewisporte in central Newfoundland Island are getting a new public swimming pool after town council recently finalized the installation site.

According to a report in The Pilot, the swimming pool will be constructed in the town’s recreation complex, near the stadium and bowling alley. To accommodate the swimming pool a playground area nearby the recreation centre may need to be moved, however.

The swimming pool contractor/builder is expected to present their preliminary suggestions on the pool’s layout and cost estimates to council in February. The pool’s size is expected to be approximately 18 m (60 ft) in length and wide enough to accommodate three swimming lanes.

While the swimming pool will not be equipped with a high diving board, council is still considering the idea of including a smaller wading pool for smaller children.
