Marquis® Spas and Cal-X Fun Spas recently teamed up to grant Ethan, a California teenager, one of his biggest wishes—to have a swim spa where he can move around beyond the restrictions of his wheelchair.
During a celebration held at the family’s home, representatives of the two companies installed one its newest swim spas—the Aquatic Training Vessels™ (ATV™)—marking the 600th wish granted by Marquis® through its relationship with Make-A-Wish.
Ethan, 17, was born with a life-threatening heart condition. When he was five years old he suffered cardiac arrest, his heart stopped and he was left unable to walk or talk. His wish for a swim spa was based on the fact that he loves the water and swimming, as well as the social aspect that comes along with the activity.
“We are so fortunate to count Marquis as a longtime sponsor of Make-A-Wish and a tremendous supporter of our wish kids,” said David A. Williams, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America. “The Spirit of a Wish campaign is another testament to Marquis’ commitment to helping us grant more wishes every year and changing lives, forever.”
John Schrenk, Marquis’ president, added working with wish children is extremely gratifying.
“It’s incredibly rewarding that through our hot tubs and swim spas, we are able to add some happiness and improve the well-being of so many children with life-threatening medical conditions,” said Schrenk. “It feels wonderful to see our spas create a sanctuary for the wish kids and their families.”
