Techo-Bloc Group, based in St-Hubert, Que., (pictured) has acquired two manufacturing facilities in the Midwest U.S., to support the company’s expansion plans.

Techo-Bloc Group, a Canadian manufacturer of hardscaping and masonry products in St-Hubert, Que., has expanded its operations into the Midwest U.S., with the recent acquisition of two manufacturing facilities.

One facility is located in Waterloo, Ind., while the second is based in Rock Island, Ill. As part of the expansion, the company is also planning to invest in new technology at both plants in addition to a new distribution centre in the greater Chicago area.

According to Charles Ciccarello, Techo-Bloc president, job creation is also on the agenda, with the goal of building dedicated teams, in addition to the existing staff that will be retained at the two facilities.

According to a report by Wane.com, the company plans to build and expand its Midwest U.S., regional operations by investing more than $34 million in to facility renovations and equipment upgrades at its existing 4087 m2 (44,000 sf) dry-cast truck shop. Construction will also start on a 6224 m2 (67,000 sf) wet-cast facility next spring, which will produce masonry products, slabs, walls, and pillars.

“The Midwest U.S., market has shown great interest in our products,” says Ciccarello. “We chose Indiana because it is a great central state for us to build and expand. It is close to many of our potential distributors and has great infrastructure to move material in and out of the neighbouring states.”
