Top 10 warmest summer forecasted for Canada
With summer temperatures expected to be conducive to the aquatics industry, those with swimming pools will be relaxing in and around the water, while those without a pool may consider having one installed.

Weather conditions play a significant factor in the success of a Canadian swimming pool and hot tub selling/building season, and if meteorologists’ predictions are correct, this coming summer should be quite positive for the aquatics industry.

Where last summer was Canada’s warmest on record, the forecast this year looks to be more representative of a ‘typical’ Canadian summer, which will include consistent periods of hot weather broken up by shorter cool spells.

“We’re going to see much more changeable weather,” Brett Anderson, Accuweather.com’s lead forecaster for Canada, told the Canadian Press. “We will have spells of heat and spells of very dry weather, but do not expect patterns where it’s going to lock in for weeks on end of hot dry weather.”

In terms of weather forecasts for different regions of the country, a warmer than average summer is expected for Atlantic Canada as well as for those residing in Montreal through to Quebec City, while those in southern Ontario can expect both hot and cooler periods. In the Prairies, extremely warm weather is predicted with areas between Edmonton and Winnipeg to also experience increased thunderstorm activity.

“Areas south of Calgary, I think, are going to see some spells of very hot weather, perhaps record breaking temperatures,” Anderson added.

Drier conditions are predicted for southeastern British Columbia and balanced temperatures are expected in Vancouver and other southwestern parts of the province.

“Overall, Canadian summers are getting warmer,” said Anderson. “We’ve seen an increase of 1.4 C since records began in 1948. Canadian summers are also getting a little bit wetter, thanks in part to the warming of the North.”
