The Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada’s (PHTCC’s) Toronto Chapter recently ratified its 2012 board of directors at its annual general meeting (AGM) in November.
Attended by 24 member companies, with an additional three proxies in hand, the membership unanimously approved the appointment of its new executive board, which comprises eight members, four builder/service representatives and four supplier representatives.
Steven Taylor (TayFam Enterprises Ltd.) will serve as president of the 2012 board, while Rob Pagliaro (Central Spa & Pool Supply) moves into the past president’s position after serving in 2010 and 2011. David Simek (Lawrason’s Pool Products) has been appointed vice-president and Peter Brown (Bonavista Pools) remains the secretary/treasurer.
According to Richard Hubbard, Toronto chapter manager, three new board members were nominated to fulfil director positions that became void after three members elected to step down.
“This filled out the eight-member board and an election was not necessary,” he added.
Newcomers include John Petrocelli (Backyard Getaways), Jason Mitchell (Poolcraft) and Scott Mosselman (Natural Chemistry). Tony Broughton (Northeastern Swimming Pool Distributors [NSPD]) remains on the board as a director.
At the meeting, members of the executive board also discussed a report that showed the Toronto Chapter remains financially strong, with just over $50,000 in reserves. The chapter recently contributed $5,000 to help the national office with the four-sided fencing issue in Ontario and financed an online and face-to-face survey of the Toronto membership and Ontario industry to determine how the chapter and national office could improve its value to members and the industry’s image with consumers. The meeting wrapped up with a roundtable discussion on member and industry needs.
