A number of special events surrounding this year’s World Aquatic Health™ Conference (WAHC™) have been added by show organizers to boost the offerings for attendees.
The event, hosted by the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®), is scheduled for Oct. 8-10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Portland, Ore. It will include a new symposia, more seminars, a scientific poster session, four keynote addresses, as well as several special guests.
“Organizations hold leadership meetings and educators plan special courses in conjunction with the WAHC to help attendees maximize their wallet,” said NSPF CEO and Pool & Spa Marketing editorial advisory committee member, Thomas Lachocki, PhD. “Leaders appreciate that the WAHC attracts others who have curious minds, who seek opportunities to help keep pools safer and open, and who are committed to a healthier world through aquatics.”
Some of this year’s pre-conference events include a five-hour ‘Insiders Tour’ of unique Portland aquatic facilities, a workshop on the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC), and welcome reception. During the conference, on Oct. 9, attendees will be able to participate in a private showing of a new documentary called Taking the Plunge, which serves as a motivator to help eliminate the fear of being in or around water.
Post conference events include a two-day ‘Build a Pool Conference’ by USA Swimming where attendees will learn how to program pools for financial sustainability as well as renovate, upgrade, or expand existing pools, and design/build new facilities. Finally, Genesis 3 Design Group’s Dave Peterson will also lead a post-conference course on Oct. 12, which will cover basic fluid engineering.

This July 17-18, the SPLASH! Pool & Spa Expo in Australia will host the first WAHC event outside of the United States. It will be held at the Jupiters Hotel & Casino in Gold Coast, Australia. For more information on this conference, visit http://worldaquatichealthconference.com.au/home-2/[3].
